I began the long process of begging my mama to watch Best Little Whorehouse in Texas on my 9th bday. Three years later, she finally relented. I walked home with the VHS rental tucked under my sweaty armpit proud and ready. I’m still grieving the loss of Dolly and will write more when I can about who she is to me as mentor, spiritual mother, and sex educator aka madam Miss Mona.
